1. Coyote’s Ground
Coyote angered the Mother once, coming along the banks of this river. He had been killing her children when he wasn’t hungry, and she began tearing up her own body to get at him. The ground in front of him opened up, or dropped away entirely; the trees sailed by his head, still in the ground where they had always grown. The river changed its course and followed him, and he ran, and dodged, and ran again, and couldn’t get away from the river.
